Register


Register with Digital ID (myID)

Once set up, a Digital ID (such myID) allows you to confirm your identity online without needing to provide details of your physical documents again. A Digital ID is set up once and then used to access many different services.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

Don't have a myID? Read setup up myID.

Register with your myID

  1. Select Register on the HBS landing page.
  2. On the Register page, select Register with Digital ID.
  3. On the Digital ID system page that opens, choose Select myID.
  4. You will be redirected to myID. On the Login with myID page, enter your myID email address and select Get code.
  5. Enter the code in the myID phone app.
  6. When you return to the HBS portal, you will be shown the Terms of use. Scroll through the full Terms of use, select the checkbox to agree, and then select Continue.
  7. Note that you need to provide a telephone number and contact email address. Select Continue.
  8. On the Registration page:
    1. select a Title (optional)
    2. enter a Preferred name (optional) for use in the portal and communications
    3. enter the contact details (phone and email) we can use to contact you about your HBS user profile. The contact details you use in a service can be different.

      About your Contact email:

      • Your contact email must be unique and only accessible by you.
      • You can use your myID email address or provide a different email address (personal or work).
      • If you provide a different email address, you must verify it before continuing.

      To verify a contact email address (if required)

      1. enter the email address and select Verify email.
      2. we will send a verification code to that email address.
      3. enter the code and select Verify code.

      If you do not receive the email:

      • check your spam or junk folder, or
      • select Send new code.
  1. Acknowledge the declarations and select Submit. A confirmation page will confirm your registration is complete.
  2. We recommend reading Use our services.
  3. Select Continue to HBS home page.

Register with email

If you do not have Australian identity documents, you will need to register for the HBS portal using an email address and a password.

As part of registration, you will need to complete a simple one-time identity verification using a non-Australian photo ID.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

Register with an email address

  1. On the HBS landing page, select Register.
  2. On the Register page, select Register with email.
  3. Enter the email address you want to use to sign in.

    We recommend using a personal email address, in case your employment changes. This must be an email address that only you have access to.

  4. Verify your email address:
    1. enter the email address and select Verify email.
    2. we will send a verification code to that email address.
    3. enter the code and select Verify code.

    If you do not receive the email:

    • Check your spam or junk folder, or
    • Select Send new code.

    Select Continue once verification is complete.

  5. Create and confirm a Password, then enter your:
    1. Given names
    2. Family name
    3. Preferred name

    All these fields are mandatory. Select Continue.

  6. Scroll through the full Terms of use, select the checkbox to agree, and select Continue.

Verify your identity

  1. On the Your identity verification options page, select Continue WITHOUT Australian documents

    You will need your photo ID and mobile device to continue.

  2. Start identity verification:
    • scan the QR code on the screen, or
    • use the link sent to your email to open the process on your mobile device.

    Your verification attempt is valid for 14 days.

  3. When the screen opens on your mobile device:
    1. review the privacy consent
    2. select the checkbox to agree
    3. select Continue
  4. Allow access to your camera and follow the prompts to take a photo of your ID.

    If the image is unclear, you may be asked to take another photo.

  5. Review the details on the Check your ID details screen:
    • add any missing information
    • correct any incorrect details
  6. Provide consent for your information to be checked with the document issuer and select My details are correct.
  7. Complete Face verification:
    1. allow camera access if prompted
    2. position your face in the oval on the screen
    3. follow the onscreen instructions
  8. When verification is complete, close the window on your mobile device and return to the HBS portal.

    If your session times out or you return on another day, sign in using your email and password to continue from where you left off.

  9. On the Verify your identity page, a success message will display if verification is successfully complete. Select Continue.

    If your verification was not successful, follow the instructions on the screen.

Complete user profile

  1. Your name
    1. Select a Title (optional).
    2. Your name details will be prefilled from earlier steps.
  2. Your contact details
    1. Sign in email - read-only field and cannot be changed.
    2. Contact number - a phone number we can use to contact you about your user profile.
    3. Contact email:
      • you can use your sign in email address or provide a different email address.
      • your contact email must be unique and only accessible by you.
      • it can be a personal or work email address.

      if you provide a new email address, you must verify it before continuing.

Complete registration

  1. Acknowledge the declarations and select Submit.
  2. A confirmation page will confirm your registration is complete.
  3. We recommend reading Use our services to learn what you can do in the HBS portal.
  4. Select Continue to the HBS home page.
